چکیده

Mechanical behaviour of fired bricks containing varied amount fine sand (FS) and waste glass powder (GP) was investigated. FS GP were added to at 0, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35 40 wt. %. Firing done 1200 ⁰C samples produced evaluated for compressive flexural strengths while microstructural analyses 25 % GP-clay examined. Results showed that strength highest 30 GP-bricks FS-clay bricks, rose addition. Flexural peaked (3.63 MPa) wt (2.45) respectively. modulus increased progressively exponentially as proportion increased. Workdone in resisting deformation deflection during bending reduced with both additives. strain inversely related load stiffness. In conclusion, addition increasing resulted improved mechanical properties the bricks. Also, found improve response loading

Mechanical properties of sand, silt, and clay containing tetrahydrofuran hydrate

[1] The mechanical behavior of hydrate-bearing sediments subjected to large strains has relevance for the stability of the seafloor and submarine slopes, drilling and coring operations, and the analysis of certain small-strain properties of these sediments (for example, seismic velocities). This study reports on the results of comprehensive axial compression triaxial tests conducted at up to 1 ...

An experimental and constitutive investigation on the chemo-mechanical behaviour of a clay

Engineering issues for which the understanding of the chemo-mechanical behaviour of soils is relevant include wellbore stability problems, the salinification of groundwater, and nuclear waste storage. However, despite the vast number of situations in which couplings between chemistry and mechanics occur, the available constitutive models rely on limited experimental evidence. This paper present...

Density, Strength, Thermal Conductivity and Leachate Characteristics of Light-Weight Fired Clay Bricks Incorporating Cigarette Butts

Several trillion cigarettes produced worldwide annually lead to many thousands of kilograms of toxic waste. Cigarette butts (CBs) accumulate in the environment due to the poor biodegradability of the cellulose acetate filters. This paper presents some of the results from a continuing study on recycling CBs into fired clay bricks. Physico-mechanical properties of fired clay bricks manufactured w...

Possible Utilization of Cigarette Butts in Light- Weight Fired Clay Bricks

Over a million tonnes of cigarette butts (CBs) are produced worldwide annually. These CBs accumulate in the environment due to the poor biodegradability of the cellulose acetate filters and pose a serious environmental risk. This paper presents some of the results from a continuing study on recycling CBs into fired clay bricks. Properties including compressive strength, flexural strength, densi...

An Experimental Study on the Behaviour of Vertically Loaded Piled Raft on Soft Clay

In order to understand the load sharing and settlement reduction behaviour of piled raft resting on soft clay, 1g model tests were conducted on small-scale models. The parameters studied were the effect of pile length and number of piles. The load settlement behaviour obtained from the tests has been validated using simplified method (Polous & Davis). Equivalent pier concept of Poulos and Davis...
